Miley Cyrus and her husband Liam Hemsworth have split after less than a year of marriage.
In a statement to People the singer, 26, announced she had separated from the Australian actor, 29, to ‘focus on themselves and their careers’.
The news may come as no surprise to fans of the couple, however, as cracks have been appearing the couple’s relationship for some time.

In mid July, Miley publicly declared she wouldn’t be having babies with her husband.

In an interview with ELLE, the 26-year-old, who married Liam in December, said she refuses to reproduce until ‘we live on an earth with fish in the water’.

Miley also stated that she was very much still attracted to women.
‘I’m in a hetero relationship, but I still am very sexually attracted to women… I definitely don’t fit into a stereotypical wife role. I don’t even like that word.’
In possibly the biggest red flag about the status of the couple’s relationship, Liam was spotted without his wedding ring in July – just days after Miley’s Glastonbury announcement that she’s ‘f***ing sick of men’.

A full statement on the couple’s shock split was released on Sunday, which read: ‘Liam and Miley have agreed to separate at this time. Ever-evolving, changing as partners and individuals, they have decided this is what’s best while they both focus on themselves and careers.
‘They still remain dedicated parents to all of their animals they share while lovingly taking this time apart. Please respect their process and privacy.’

Miley and Liam met in 2009 on the set of romantic comedy The Last Song, and had an on-again-off-again romance for years.
Liam finally proposed to the blonde in 2012, but the pair broke up their engagement a year later.
They rekindled their romance in 2015 before tying the knot in December 2018 during a private ceremony at the Cyrus family home in Tennessee.
