White House private contractor with outstanding warrant

This is the dramatic moment a private contractor was arrested at the White House security gates over an outstanding warrant for attempted murder.

Martese Edwards, 29, had arrived for work at the White House on Tuesday when he was taken into custody at the checkpoint in the 1600 block of Pennsylvania Avenue.

Secret Service officials told The Washington Post that Edwards’ name matched with an outstanding warrant for attempted murder in Prince George County, Maryland.

On Tuesday, the smartly dressed contractor was charged with being a fugitive from justice in Washington, DC.  

He could be extradited back to Maryland to face the attempted murder charge. 

A Prince George Sheriff’s Office spokesman said the warrant was issued on May 17.

Trump told gathered guests on the White House lawn that the event was now a ‘Celebration of America’ and made no mention of the team, telling the crowd: ‘We love our country,’ he said. ‘We respect our flag. And we always proudly stand for the national anthem.’ 

It is not clear where Edwards would have been working as a private contractor or what his role was.  

The White House did not immediately respond to a request for comment on Edwards’s arrest.
