Why The Bachelor’s Irena Srbinovska chose to share her miscarriage heartbreak

Irena Srbinovska revealed for the first time earlier this week she’d lost a child to miscarriage in the ‘early months’ of her relationship with Locky Gilbert.

And the 31-year-old nurse explained on Friday why she decided to speak publicly about their loss, saying ‘it was time’ to be honest with fans about the private struggles the couple faced after falling in love on The Bachelor.

She uploaded a post on Instagram Stories about her recent tell-all interview with Who magazine and said sharing her story had been ‘difficult’.

‘I have always been honest with you all about what’s been happening in our life,’ Irena explained.

‘This has been something that I not only didn’t want to speak publicly about until now, but also something that I didn’t share with anyone,’ she added of their loss.

‘We felt it was time to share with you what’s been happening.’

‘At the end of the day we are just a normal couple that face all of the normal challenges of a relationship and life,’ she said.

In their interview with Who on Thursday, the couple revealed they’d lost a child to miscarriage ‘a few months’ into their relationship, but chose to keep it private.

The pair admitted losing a child was a ‘devastating low’.

Irena said the miscarriage may have been linked to the stress she was going through in the aftermath of The Bachelor.

She was secretly struggling after her father, Vasco, had suffered a medical emergency and she couldn’t be with him due to Covid border closures.

She was also dealing with trolls after Locky had infamously told Bella he was falling in love with her only to pick Irena instead.

‘During our first few months together I unfortunately suffered a miscarriage,’ Irena said. ‘But Locky was my rock and having his support made me love him even more.’

Locky added: ‘We are just normal people and while we put ourselves in the spotlight, you never know what is going on in our lives that day. If you have to say something, then direct it at me, not my girl.’
