Posing on Instagram, Sadie’s Professional Cleaning Services revealed how laundry detergent will banish nasty scents with every flush – without causing any damage to your toilet system.

‘Pour a cup of laundry detergent in the tank of the toilet.’
Their cleaners said that the detergent will ‘sink to the bottom and remain in the tank’.
‘Each time you flush, a sweet aroma will be released in the tank, and the whole bathroom will smell amazing,’ they said.
The experts added that neither your toilet nor your septic system will be damaged by the trick, meaning it’s safe to try straight away.

People online were hugely impressed with the trick, with many saying they couldn’t wait to give it a try.

But while many were on board with the idea, not everyone was impressed.
