Wife reveals she caught her husband watching rugby on his phone on their WEDDING DAY

A newlywed is at the end of her tether with her husband after he watched rugby at her brother’s wedding – after doing the same thing during his own nuptials.

Dani Russell, from Sydney, Australia, previously caught her husband Blake watching his the Gold Coast Titans on his phone on their wedding day – and it seems he makes a habit of it.

Dani, a 27-year-old influencer, previously made headlines after filming Blake, 29, propping his phone up against their three-tier wedding cake to watch the game during their wedding reception in August 2020.

Dani Russell, 27, and Blake Russell, 29, met in 2016 and married in August 2020 – during which Blake took a ‘time-out’ to watch the rugby

Dani filmed Blake on their wedding day saying: 'The footy's on' (rugby is referred to as 'footy' in Australia)

She said Blake, who is ‘rugby obsessed’, simply cannot miss out on watching the rugby, and he’d never let his wedding day get in the way of his great love of the sport.

Dani said: ‘We had to cancel our wedding three times due to COVID and we didn’t have a choice but to reschedule throughout the football season.

‘I’d been planning since we got engaged, but had to rush with last minute plans to do it before the pandemic got worse.

‘I wasn’t surprised [that he was watching rugby] and I believe his best man actually positioned the phone for him.

‘My maid of honour filmed the clip and we found it hilarious, as it looked like I was about to kill him.’

She joked Blake’s obsession may eventually lead to their divorce.

After filming the wedding day moment, in which the bride looks unimpressed, and posting it on TikTok, the clip racked up 11.5 million views.

But Dani may find some comfort in knowing it wasn’t just his own wedding day that Blake skipped 80 minutes of to watch the rugby – having repeated his habit at her brother’s wedding this weekend.

Once again, Dani filmed the clip and posted it on TikTok with the caption: ‘I wish I could say things have changed.’

Blake is shown watching the rugby intently, with a makeshift phone stand made from the table’s wine cooler.

Many viewers left comments underneath the video to give their opinions about Blake’s behaviour, with many finding the clip funny but plenty of people offering criticism.

One person said: ‘I couldn’t stand that…weddings should be a phone free zone.’

Another commented: ‘The tradition continues.’

One viewer joked: ‘Mans got his priorities in order.’

In December 2016, the duo met after swiping right on each other through Tinder and in August 2020, they tied the knot.

Dani claims her husband is such a ‘die hard’ fan, that he’s never missed a game and his passion continues all-year round.

While she also supports his favourite team, Gold Coast Titans, she drew the line after their wedding – and jokingly, called for divorce.

She said: ‘I was less mad, as at least this wasn’t my wedding. But once again, I’m not surprised.

‘My other brother was sitting near him and made me swap seats so he could watch it as well.

‘I was also the MC at the wedding, so I had to make all the important announcements and speeches – but Blake kept asking me to wait until half-time. I ignored him.’

Dani’s brother, Justin, and his wife, Hazel, are still yet to find out about the wandering watcher – but she thinks they’ll expect nothing less.

She added: ‘I don’t think they know yet, as we weren’t sitting at a table close to them and they’re currently away on their honeymoon.

‘It’ll be funny when they come back, but they probably won’t expect anything less.

‘Die hard fans seem to understand and others don’t get why I’m with him.

‘I knew before marrying Blake that I wouldn’t be as important as his favourite team – but there’s always hope one day.’
