Wife who has been with her husband for seven years thinks about divorce

Have you ever thought about getting a divorce – but you weren’t sure if it was out of boredom or genuine misery?

That’s the question being posed by one mother who took to Mamamia to share her intimate feelings about love and letting go.

The mystery woman has been with her husband for seven years and they share a number of children together – but she seems to think they act more like glorified housemates than long-term lovers.

‘I’m not sure when my feelings graduated from ‘far out I’m annoyed at the way you continually leave your cr*p lying around’ to actually wondering and sometimes, in my darkest moments, actually planning, how I could live as a single parent,’ she explained bluntly.

But confusingly she’s unsure whether a night in an Airbnb alone and ‘with one million dollars’ would help put her mind at ease.

She explained that the pair get on ‘really well’ and only give each other the silent treatment once or twice a week.

While they’re good at communicating about the daily chores, they aren’t so good with talking about their wants, needs and desires.

‘I can’t remember the last time we went to bed at the same time, let alone were intimate. Beyond a chaste peck on the cheek in the morning, we don’t have any physical contact,’ she admitted.

Their sexual relationship is slim to none and while she doesn’t believe there is anyone else for him out there, the woman wonders whether they might be happier single.

‘I can’t help but think that the grass might be greener on the other side and that maybe the kindest thing we can do for each other is to call it quits? But is it grounds for divorce?’ She questioned.

According to the Australian Bureau of Statistics there were 118,401 marriages registered and 46,604 divorces granted in 2016

The median age of couples marrying for the first time has continued to slowly rise over the past two decades, with grooms now likely to be closer to 30 years and the bride in her late twenties.

Australian men and women are getting married later but also staying married longer, with the number of divorces granted declining over the last 20 years.
