The advert reads: ‘This is a career pathway in hospitality that will develop your housekeeping skills and expertise. Joining our professional team, you’ll upkeep, clean and care for a wide range of interiors and items, ensuring they’re presented to their very best.

‘Learning from your colleagues, you’ll gain the specialist professional skills needed, always aiming for the highest standards. And you’ll welcome and take care of guests at functions and events too.

And the successful candidate does not need to have extensive experience in hospitality, but instead a positive attitude is paramount.

Describing the individual, the advert continues: ‘Previous housekeeping or hospitality experience would be an advantage but is not essential. We’re more interested in your proactive approach and ability to tackle new challenges.’

Sharing the benefits, it concludes: ‘This role will be based in Windsor Castle but will involve travelling to other Royal residences.

James Upsher’s top tips to join royal staff

Be quick; Be perfect; Be brief

Stress your connections to the UK, the Realms, and the Commonwealth

Help people understand your qualifications

Demonstrate shared values with the organisation

Do not – under any circumstances – go on about the Royal Family

Just weeks ago a royal insider who hired staff for the Duke of York, Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie has revealed his top tips for getting hired at Buckingham Palace.

James Upsher, an ex Communications Manager at LinkedIn, worked as an Assistant Private Secretary to the York family for almost four years, as well as helping the Royal Communications department to oversee The Queen’s 90th Birthday, and working on overseas visits by The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge and Prince Harry.

Surprisingly, he advises interested applicants not to gush about how the job would ‘fulfill childhood dreams of working for the palaces’, and recommends highlighting any connections to the Commonwealth in your address book.
