- Tannen Ordunev, 23, from California, weighed 335 pounds before her surgery
- She is now a size six and weighs 135lbs after dropping 196lbs and 14 dress sizes
- Started gaining weight after she snacked a lot and eat takeaways every day
A woman revealed how she shed more than half her body weight after being told she was pre-diabetic as a teenager.
Tannen Ordunev, 23, who weighed 336lbs, dropped 14 dress sizes and 196lbs with the help of gastric bypass surgery.
The package handler, from California, said she has always been overweight but was shocked into taking action after discovering she had weight-related health issues as a teenager.
To mark the occasion, Tannen recreated a photo of her at her heaviest – but this time wearing a similar top in a size 6, instead of an 8XL.
Tannen Ordunev, 23, from California, lost an incredible 196 pounds after having gastric bypass surgery and took a comparison picture to show the impressive results
She said: ‘I decided to recreate the photo as a reminder of how far I have come. I don’t ever want to get to that size again – I was so unhealthy and miserable.
‘But now I feel and look like a completely different person. When I look at old photos, I am in shock as I didn’t think I was that big at the time.’
Tannen began to pile on the pounds after leaving school as she was snacking and eating takeaways daily.
The 24 year old now poses for pictures with pride as she shows off her incredible weight loss, now weighing just 135lbs
After leaving school Tannen would snack a lot and eat takeaways for dinner every day and soon she rapidly began gaining weight
She decided ‘enough was enough’ when she was told she was pre-diabetic with high blood pressure.
She said: ‘I have been overweight since a kid and I yo-yo dieted my whole life. I didn’t have a lot of friends so that was what I would do for enjoyment so eating was my thing. I would eat McDonalds for lunch and a Chinese for dinner daily.
‘But I knew I had to change my bad eating habits when the doctor gave me a health warning in January 2017.
‘It is quite scary being told you have caused yourself health complications at 19.
When she was 19 doctors told her she was pre-diabetic with high blood pressure and Tannen became determined to lose the weight
‘After a year of exercising and dieting, I still couldn’t get to where I wanted to be so I went ahead with the surgery.’
Tannen underwent gastric bypass surgery – a procedure which involves surgical staples are used to create a small pouch at the top of the stomach.
She said: ‘The surgery saved my life! I am now a sociable person who is completely healthy. I have completely changed my lifestyle and I have made a promise to myself to make sure I stick to it.
‘I hope I able to help someone get up and make a move by sharing my story! It is hard at the start but completely worth it.
‘My life seemed pointless before but now I feel like a new person who wants to help other people change their lives for the better.’
