Woman, 63, is stabbed to death at a home in northern NSW before a 64-year-old man is arrested

Man accused of stabbing a woman, 63, to death inside their unit is charged with her murder after a struggle with police

A 64-year-old man has been charged with murder after allegedly stabbing a woman to death at a unit in northern New South Wales.

Police were called to a unit on Brent Street in Tweed Heads about 6.30pm on Monday after they received reports of a domestic-related incident. 

When they arrived at the unit, Tweed/Byron Police District officers found a 63-year-old woman with critical injuries who died at the scene.

A man was also at the Brent Street unit and after a ‘short struggle’ with officers, he was arrested and taken to Tweed Heads Police Station. 

It’s understood the man and the woman were known to each other.

The 64-year-old man has been refused bail and is due to appear at Tweed Heads Local Court on Tuesday.
