A woman who allegedly stole two trolleys full of donations for firefighters and led police on a high-speed chase will spend at least another week behind bars after her bail was rejected.

Josephine Trask allegedly broke into the Woolworths supermarket in western Sydney at about 3.40pm on Wednesday and stole food, SIM cards and a trolley of food and drinks donated to the RFS.

The 37-year-old then allegedly escaped with a 48-year-old man and drove without a license while leading police on a car chase.

The car hit a fence shortly after and the couple was arrested.

Trask appeared in Parramatta Bail Court on Thursday charged with break, enter and steal, as well as negligent driving.

Police prosecutor Leesa McEvoy told the court Trask shouldn’t be allowed on the streets as she endangered other people’s lives on Christmas.

‘She is unlicensed that means she does not have a right to be on the road,’ she told the court.

‘This offence occurred at 3.40pm on Christmas Day. It is not out of the realms of possibility that families would be on the streets at this time.

‘She failed to stop for police to the extent that POLAIR had to be used. The prosecution has a strong case with CCTV footage of the break and enter also.’

Trask began weeping in the dock and shouting in an attempt to explain herself, The Daily Telegraph reported.

Her legal aid and Magistrate Daphne Kok requested Trask compose herself while she tried to explain herself.

‘I was depressed for a little while and the older man came along and sort of led me astray,’ she told the court.

Ms Kok refused Trask’s application for bail due to the severity of the charges and will reappear in court via videolink on January 7.
