Amara Lundy, 23, was arrested on Monday over the brutal murder of her 56-year-old mother Susan Lundy in Olympia in Washington state

A month-long investigation involving the examination of financial, phone and social media records lead police to the victim’s daughter.

Police said Lundy admitted to killing her mother following her arrest on Monday night.

Lundy said she had grown tired of her mother and decided it would be better for everyone if she was dead, according to court documents.

She then allegedly went about carefully planning her mother’s murder.

Lundy told police she strangled her mother with a yellow cord she had bought and said she was surprised how much force and time it took for her to die.

Her mother had begged her to stop but Lundy felt her only option was to finish strangling her mother, police said.

She allegedly kept strangling her mother and she stopped thrashing.

Lundy is accused of leaving her mother’s body in a yard waste bin for a week before deciding she needed to dispose of it.

She allegedly used a large knife and a small saw to dismember her mother.

Police said Lundy then wrapped the body parts in plastic, put them in a shopping cart and went around to various dumpsters to dispose of them.

It is not yet clear if Susan’s body parts have been found.

Investigators believe Susan may have been killed several weeks before she was reported missing.

Authorities had searched extensively for Susan when they were investigating it as a missing person case.

Detectives examined her home and K9 teams searched the surrounding areas. Authorities also publicized her disappearance and interviewed various family members and friends.

Friends of the victim said they were devastated to learn she had been murdered.

They told King5 that Susan was a hard-working member of the community who would help deliver babies and worked at a food bank.

‘It’s devasting,’ said one friend, Timothy Nogler. ‘It’s a big thing to kind of take in.’

Lundy is now being held without bail ahead of a court appearance on August 27.
