Woman allegedly stabs two children in Wingfield, South Australia

Woman is arrested after allegedly stabbing TWO children in a car – as the pair are rushed to hospital in a critical condition

  • Mother, 35, allegedly stabbed her two kids in Wingfield, north of Adelaide
  • Passerby managed to disarm and restrain the woman until police arrived
  • Children were rushed to hospital with critical injuries but are now stable 
  • The woman will likely be charged with two counts of attempted murder 

A woman allegedly stabbed her two children in a car on a busy motorway with the pair rushed to hospital with critical injuries.

The 35-year-old woman is expected to be charged with two counts of attempted murder over the altercation in Wingfield, north of Adelaide. 

Police were called to the North South Motorway at Wingfield just before 11.30pm on Monday after a member of the public managed to disarm and detain the woman.

The mother had allegedly pulled over her car and got the two children out before stabbing them. 

Passersby restrained the woman until police arrived.

The two children from Modbury Heights were treated for critical injuries but are now in stable conditions.

The woman has been detained at the Royal Adelaide Hospital.
