Woman claims that RAW HONEY cleared her acne

For many, acne is a nightmarish but distant memory from their teenage years. But for others, it’s a miserable and never-ending saga that can extend well beyond your twenties and wreak havoc on your confidence.

And if lotions, potions and over-the-counter medication aren’t helping, one woman believes she’s found a natural, simple and cheap remedy.

The anonymous woman left the internet stunned by her stark skin transformation – and she says it’s all thanks to raw honey.

A woman took to Reddit to share her four-week acne transformation that she claims was all down to a simple slather of raw honey

The 32-year-old took to Reddit to share four photos to show how raw honey cured her seborrheic dermatitis – a form of acne.

The user explained: ‘After washing with mild cleanser, I massaged a thin layer of raw honey into the affected area and left it for three hours, simple as that.

‘I cannot believe how quickly and relatively painlessly this worked. I plan to continue the treatment every other or every third day until all traces of seb derm are gone, and then to continue weekly for six months, as the study indicates, to prevent it from coming back.’

So-called ‘miracle’ ingredients crop up all the time, but honey’s healing properties are backed up by serious research. Studies show it helps acne, eczema and psoriasis, and aids the treatment of deep wounds.

WHAT IS SEBORRHEIC DERMATITIS?

Considered a chronic form of eczema, seborrheic dermatitis appears on the body where there are a lot of oil-producing (sebaceous) glands like the upper back, nose and scalp.

The exact cause of seborrheic dermatitis is unknown, although genes and hormones play a role. Microorganisms that live on the skin naturally can also contribute to seborrheic dermatitis.

The goopy substance, which is loved by the Kardashians and Gwyneth Paltrow, is renowned for its moisturising, antiseptic and skin-conditioning properties. Because honey is a natural antibacterial, antifungal and antiseptic substance, it has a whole host of skin-boosting benefits.

Thanks to the hydrogen peroxide it contains, it is incredibly healing so can be slathered onto skin as a mask to treat infected acne spots and lighten skin.
