An 83-year-old man has been charged with murder after allegedly fatally assaulting his partner, 79, and then allegedly standing in the street yelling ‘kill me’.

The woman was found severely injured at a property in Creswick, 18km north of Ballarat in regional Victoria about 10pm on Wednesday night.

She was airlifted to hospital where she passed away on Thursday morning.

Police have charged the man with one count of murder and remanded him in custody.

After attempting to calm down the man, they ran into the home and found the woman with life-threatening injuries.
