A young woman’s body has been found at Maroubra beach in Sydney’s east.

The grisly discovery was made by a passer-by at the beach’s north end, near the intersection of Maroubra Road and Marine Parade, just after midnight on Friday.

The woman, who is yet to be formally identified, is believed to have taken a late night swim and drowned, according to Seven News.

Police are not treating her death as suspicions, but investigations are ongoing.

A report will be prepared for the Coroner.

Police are urging anyone with information in relation to this incident to call Crime Stoppers.
