A whiz around a waterslide on a cruise ship off the coast of Mexico turned into comedy gold after a woman found herself stuck at its peak three times before sliding backwards – to the cheers of other holidaymakers.

Footage taken aboard the Bliss operated by Norwegian Cruise Lines on Saturday, March 5, showed bikini-clad Paige Hodgson zooming confidently down the flume and making it all the way to the top before grinding to a sudden halt.

She then slides back headfirst with her ponytail leading the way as other guests giggle with amusement.

A video of the spectacle has attracted over 15million views on Tiktok and viewers were quick to share their nervousness if they were ever to be in the same boat.

Danielle Gale posted: ‘I need to know what happens and how did she get out? My anxiety just kicked in, small spaces and water.’

Esther Protti added: ‘OMG my worst nightmare!! this is the exact reason I don’t go on waterslides.’

After her first attempt, Miss Hodgson made another two tries to the delight of spectators – each time reaching the peak and then falling backward.

The determined thrill-seeker had to be helped by the crew on each occasion and was applauded by her audience.

It is not clear what caused the waterslide to apparently malfunction.

Miss Hodgson said staff made use of a hatch in the narrow tube to help pull her to safety.

She said: ‘I was with my family on a cruise ship when it happened.

‘Someone goes up these stairs and pulls you out from a hatch. Yopu just slide back and forth until they save you. I’m too scared to try again!

‘There is a second loop, if I carried on pushing forward I’d find myself totally stuck on the second loop.

‘It’s also not as steep so I’d have had to climb to the end of the slide in the dark.’

Ms Hodgson added that she found herself caught in the slide herself earlier that day but the attraction still remained open after the incident.

Norwegian Cruise Lines has been approached for comment.
