A woman fell 60ft from the balcony of a John Lewis in front of shoppers, leaving her with ‘desperately serious’ injuries.
She plunged from the upper level of the department store in Cheadle, Greater Manchester.
Police and paramedics descended on the building at 7.20pm after the woman fell from an internal balcony.
The woman is understood to be critically injured after she fell from a balcony on the upper level of this department store

Greater Manchester Police told Manchester Evening News: ‘At around 7.20pm we were called to a report a female who had fallen from the upper level of John Lewis onto the ground floor.
‘The police and ambulance service attended. The lady is there now being treated. Her injuries are desperately serious. We are now investigating the reasons behind the fall.’
