A mother in Indianapolis was charged with neglect after her son ended up in a washing machine and was ‘in and out of consciousness.’

Heather Oliver, 30, allegedly told cops she first woke up and saw her son in bed so went to the kitchen for some milk.

She then claimed she heard the washing machine fill with water and saw the five-year-old inside the machine.

She claimed she immediately pressed ‘stop’, grabbed him from the machine  and he later vomited, court documents obtained by The Indianapolis Star state.

Oliver has been charged with neglect of a dependent resulting in bodily harm over the incident which occurred on August 16.

Nurses told cops that the child was in and out of consciousness, and also had several bruises on his body and scratches to his arms.

He was ‘somewhat dry with wet underwear,’ according to documents seen by the outlet.

He was first taken to St. Vincent Mercy Hospital and later to Riley Children’s Hospital in Indianapolis for an examination.

Instead of first dialling 911, Oliver contacted the child’s father and instructed him to come back from work.

He claimed that he arrived back to find her holding the boy near the washer and dryer towards the back of the house.

The father claimed his son was ‘in and out of consciousness’, he was ‘soaking wet’ and his eyes were rolling back in his head. He claimed the boy threw up two times.

He said he then brought the child to hospital in his car because he thought it would be faster than dialing 911.

Interviewers spoke to the boy after the incident and he told them that his mom was ‘not nice’ when he was asked if she was nice.

He did not give any details about how he ended up in the washing machine.  The child and his father apparently told cops that Oliver had never abused her son.
