A Palestinian-American woman is on trial in Texas for allegedly stabbing to death her 25-year-old nephew with whom she was involved in a romantic relationship.

Andira Abdelaziz, 37, testified in a San Antonio court on Tuesday that she fatally stabbed Mohammed Abdelaziz in August 2016 after he allegedly threatened and abused her.

Andira Abdelaziz, who has pleaded not guilty, said that she was repeatedly belittled by her nephew, who also beat her in public and threatened to kill her during the course of their three-year affair.

News of her testimony was reported by mySanAntonio.

Mohammed Abdelaziz, a law school graduate, referred to Andira Abdelaziz as ‘daughter of a whore,’ according to text messages obtained by police.

In one instance, he told her that he would come to her home and look through the front window.

If she wasn’t sleeping on the couch – which meant she was in bed with her husband, who also happened to be his uncle – Mohammed Abdelaziz told her: ‘Your life is over. Your kids are over. You’re dead.’

Andira Abdelaziz testified that she was physically intimidated by her nephew, who was 6ft5in and weighed 213 pounds.

On the morning of the fatal stabbing, Mohammed Abdelaziz came to her home and rang the doorbell constantly, Andira Abdelaziz and her son both testified in court on Friday.

Andira Abdelaziz told the court that he was pounding on the windows – all in full view of her children.

Mohammed Abdelaziz then came inside the house and beat his aunt, striking her in the face, stomach, and back with balled fists.

Andira Abdelaziz testified that she did not call 911 because she wanted to calm him down.

She also said she was afraid that exposing the affair would have a negative impact on her children while also putting her in danger of falling victim to an ‘honor killing.’

So-called honor killings are acts of revenge taken by male members of a family against female members of the family who have brought shame upon the family.

Eventually, police were called to the home where they were told a burglary was taking place.

But Andira Abdelaziz told officers that it was a misunderstanding and police did not detain her nephew.

After the cops left, Andira Abdelaziz allegedly stabbed her nephew-lover once in the back with a kitchen knife.

He bled to death in the driveway of her home.

If convicted, she faces life in prison.
