Woman punched, robbed and sexually assaulted in Sydney

A woman has been punched, robbed and sexually assaulted while she was walking in a residential Sydney suburb on Saturday night.

The attack took place just after midnight on Selborne Street in Burwood, with police appealing to the public to help in identifying the person responsible.

The 24-year-old had been alone when she heard someone behind her, with a man allegedly striking her several times.

The offender then demanded the woman’s bankcard, before dragging her across the road and sexually assaulting her, police said.

Emergency services responded to the incident, with the woman taken to Royal Prince Alfred Hospital.

The man was reportedly last seen walking towards Shaftesbury Road, dressed in a dark blue shirt and knee-length shorts.

He is described as being in his mid 20s, of Asian appearance, approximately 180cm tall with a skinny build and short black hair.

Police have launched an investigation, with officers canvassing the local area.
