Woman reveals how she met her husband while on a Tinder date with someone else

A woman has revealed how she met her husband while she was on a Tinder date with someone else – and he proposed on the same night.

Jorinda Liebenberg, 28, from Perth, was on a Tinder date with someone else at a rugby event in Perth when her sister ran over to her in the bar and said she needed to meet Gys.

‘I was kissing my Tinder date when my sister interrupted and loudly whispered that I have to tell him I have to go to the loo,’ Jorinda told FEMAIL.

‘She told me she had just met my future husband!’

Confused, the 28-year-old said she followed her sister, first to the bathroom where she re-did her makeup, and then over to meet Gys.

‘We hit it off instantly and spent the evening getting to know each other,’ Jorinda said.

She said the night she met him, he even went down on one knee and proposed to her.

‘It was all laughs and jokes, but who knew that we would really end up marrying each other three years later?,’ she joked.

Jorinda said the first night they met, the pair got on ‘extremely well’ and she found out more about him and where he came from.

‘Gys grew up on his family’s farm in Namibia and studied mineral sciences at university,’ she said.

‘He kept wanting to kiss me that night, but I wouldn’t let him and said I don’t kiss on the first night, as I was aware my Tinder date, Dylan, was still somewhere dancing in the background.’

She eventually left the date with plans to meet up with Gys in the coming days.

And over time, Jorinda said she realised the 28-year-old was in fact her ‘soulmate’.

‘It sounds corny, but I can’t imagine my life without him,’ she said.

‘It was magical,’ she said. ‘A breathtakingly beautiful setting, where the desert meets the ocean.’

Jorinda (pictured) said she kept things relatively simple for her big day, but did have a wedding planner to help - who assisted with the colour palette, greenery and flowers

‘It’s a strange story how we met,’ Jorinda said.

‘But I wouldn’t have it any other way. We were so lucky to have found one another.’
