Woman boasts she saved herself $200 by getting her Tinder date to put up her new shelves (although he does hang them upside down!)
- Nikol Peeva, from New York, asked her unnamed Tinder date to put up a shelf
- She posted the moment on her TikTok page which now has over 2.1million views
- Thousands of comments revealed that many other women have done the same
A woman has taken to TikTok to brag after saving $200 by asking a man she met on Tinder to put new shelves up in her home.
The New Yorker, who goes by the name of Nikol Peeva, shared a video of herself smirking with the caption ‘When the handyman wants to charge you $200 to hang up shelves so you find someone on Tinder to do it for free’.
The camera then flips to the man, who is holding a tape measure up to a wall as he measures the right parts to fit her shelf.
Her eight-second clip has been viewed 2.1million times, garnering over 177,000 likes and over 2,000 comments.
Plenty of those comments, though – point out that the date might actually be putting the shelf upside down.
The unnamed man looks like he is really trying to get it right, as Nikol watches on and admires his hard work.
Some people asked why she couldn’t manage to do the task herself, rather than paying a handyman $200 or asking a near-stranger to do it for her.

She explained in the comments that after trying for three days, she gave up and decided on another avenue – ‘hiring’ her date for the job instead.
The musician and jewelry shop owner, who is from California and now lives in New York, received many comments from women who have done exactly the same thing.
One woman called Gia reminisced: ‘That time this guy from Bumble renovated my bathroom in exchange for a home cooked meal.’
Similarly, Jenelle Trickey said: ‘I literally had two different guys from tinder build my night stands for me.’
A user called Foodie0919 added: ‘My whole apartment is put together by different men. It is what it is. Lmaooo.’
It is not known how the first date, which one person described as ‘arts and crafts’, went afterwards and whether or not the pair saw each other again.
Other people even joked about Nikol being the ‘new Tinder Swindler’, referring to the new Netflix documentary which saw three women who claim to have been scammed out of hundreds of thousands of pounds by a man they met on Tinder.

On the topic of the shelves potentially being put up upside down… one woman came to the Tinder date’s defence: ‘I have these [shelves]. He is doing it right, they are NOT upside down!’
This was written after the official Tinder account, which is regularly seen commenting under viral videos that see people going through bizarre situations with their dating app matches, wrote on Nikol’s video: ‘Screaming at them being upside down.’
Another user remembered a funny hookup-turned-DIY situation: ‘I once made a random guy I brought home from the bar set up a hammock for me in my backyard at 2am.’
A woman called Cierra sweetly joked to Nikol, ‘Be careful, this is how I’m marrying mine next week,’ referring to her fiancé who she met in the same way.
