Woman shows off 131 pound weight loss in her old clothes

A teenager who has lost 131 pounds less than a year following her gastric bypass is now showing off her incredible weight loss by posing in the clothes that have become too big for her.

MC Solomon, 19, an aspiring singer from Dallas, Texas, first decided to take control of her health back in January 2017 – and, after months of doctor appointments and therapy, opted to undergo gastric bypass surgery on March 29 2017.

However, the road to weight loss success has not been an easy one, and MC has documented just how challenging her weight lost journey has been and how it has impacted on her life on her blog.

At the beginning of 2017, MC had planned to continue her studies abroad at the Berklee College of Music in Valencia, Spain.

However, two days before her flight was leaving for Spain, she met with a gastric bypass surgeoun from Baylor University Medical Center in Dallas who offered her surgery.

It was at this point that MC decided to stay home for a semester and undergo the procedure.

Complications meant she had to undergo a second emergency surgery to remove blood clots from her abdomen walls, and in April 2017, had to have a third procedure after a build-up of scar tissue led to acid in her esophagus that left her unable to keep any liquids down.

However, five weeks after her initial surgery and 38 pounds lighter, she was given the all clear to begin an exercise program and eat solid food.

Her doctor told her she could eat 60 grams of protein per day and healthy fats along with 60 ounces of water.

He also advised she stick to a low sugar, low fat diet, and MC had to follow a ‘soft food’ diet for the first couple of months.

During this time her meals consisted of low fat cheese, low fat yogurt, low fat cottage cheese, hummus, fish, and eggs. She could also have bananas in moderation.

During this time, she also had to learn what foods brought on ‘dumping syndrome’ – a knock on effect of gastric bypass where certain foods bypass the small intestine without being digested and get ‘dumped’ directly into the stomach, causing abdominal cramping, palpitations, feeling lightheaded and vomiting.

MC also revealed that in the aftermath of her surgery, she had to come to terms with a food addiction, that was so severe, she would sometimes ‘ball’ her eyes out because she couldn’t ‘eat what everyone else eats’.

She has also explained on Instagram that weight loss surgery is not an instant fix.

‘Yes, I was LUCKY enough to have surgery, yes they shrunk my stomach, and yes it has been such an amazing tool to help me, BUT I am ultimately the one that has lost the weight. I choose what goes in my body, and how hard I work out,’ she explained.

Fix: MC, pictured before her surgery, now has to be careful about what she eats

Side effects: If some foods don't agree with MC they get 'dumped' directly into her stomach which causes abdominal pain, pictured before surgery

‘I choose to lose weight. I AM NOT the gastric bypass, I AM ME. I have worked my BUTT off to get healthy.’

A fan of keeping her followers updated via progress pictures, MC has posted several side-by-side shots of her wearing her old clothes to show just how far she’s come.

She now hopes to go on the hit E! show, Revenge Body with Khloe Kardashian, and has expressed a desire to train with Melissa Alcantara, the personal trainer who Kim Kardashian credits with overhauling her post baby body.

‘People can hate you, people can love you… most importantly, you have to LOVE and believe in you in order to succeed. If I can do it… YOU CAN DO IT, don’t be afraid to choose,’ she added.

But in the meantime, she has returned to Valencia to complete her studies abroad, over 100 pounds lighter.
