Woman slapped with restraining order after she sent a naked photo of her ex-husband to his mother 

A woman who sent a naked photo of her ex-husband’s mother has been given a restraining order.  

Kelly Connell, 39, sent the text message in November last year after receiving it from her former spouse’s new partner, Teesside Magistrates’ Court was told. 

Joanne Hesse, prosecuting, said the victim claimed the indecent image made her feel ’emotional’ and ‘distressed’.

‘It’s not something I need to receive at 70 years of age,’ she said in a statement.

Connell, from Thornaby, North Yorkshire, admitted the charge of sending an indecent message for the purpose of causing distress or anxiety. 

Neil Taylor, mitigating, said the message was ‘not sent out of vengeance or retribution’ and was not shared publicly.

Connell had received the message from her ex-partner’s new girlfriend, he said. And as his mother was the point of contact, Connell then forwarded it asking for the messages to stop.

‘She didn’t take the photo, she didn’t make the photo. She simply forwarded it,’ he said.

‘There is another person who has committed an offence here but I don’t think the police bothered about that.

‘She did not mean to cause alarm, distress or harassment. She accepts she should have thought it was inappropriate to send this picture to that person.’

Connell was given a 12-month conditional discharge, a one-year restraining order and was ordered to pay costs and charges of £120.
