My fiancé wants me to cut costs for our wedding day starting with the flowers – his idea could save us thousands but I’m not on board
- Kasey Rayton was wedding planning with her fiancé
- He soon made an incredulous suggestion
A woman has made thousands laugh after revealing the ‘hilarious’ suggestion her fiancé provided in the midst of wedding planning.
Kasey Rayton got engaged to her boyfriend of 12 years in early 2023, and while she did not expect wedding planning to be easy – she was a bit shocked by the prices of flowers.
She said they can cost up to $10,000 in certain states, with most places starting packages at $1000 for the bridal bouquet, a few bridesmaids bouquets, and lapel pin flowers for groomsmen.
Kasey did a lot of research and was trying to find the perfect match within their budget when her fiancé chimed in with a suggestion.
‘Can’t we just get them from Woolies in the morning?’ he asked.

Kasey did not even know how to respond and laughed at the suggestion.
‘I can’t even make this up,’ she said about the situation in a video.
Many were on board with the man’s cost-saving idea – with some even admitting to using it themselves.
‘That’s a smart financial mood,’ a woman said. ‘You should use your Rewards card to save more money.’
‘I bought seven native bunches from a fruit and vegetable shop, and my bridesmaids and I put our bouquets together while we got ready – it only cost $200,’ a former bride revealed.
Others shared how going to flower markets instead of hiring a professional florist saved them thousands of dollars.
‘I got all of mine from the Queen Victoria market in Melbourne the day before,’ a woman said.
‘I saved so much money by getting most of mine from Woolies the day before,’ another added.
‘My maid of honour went to the flower market at 5am the day before the wedding and I had a stunning bouquet for so much cheaper,’ a woman wrote.
A fourth said: ‘That’s a great idea, my sister-in-law saved thousands on her wedding day by going to the flower markets.’
‘I had my bouquet professionally done but I did the flowers around the venue and on table settings myself,’ a woman said. ‘I went to all the flower markets.’

But some were not convinced.
‘To everyone saying listen to her fiancé – I don’t think you realise how hard it is to get a cheap bunch of flowers to look good in wedding photos,’ a woman said.
Another added: ‘If you buy supermarket flowers, you can tell in the wedding photos. You’ll keep them forever, might as well spring for the bouquets.’
‘I don’t think you should listen to men, my husband wanted us to serve roast chooks from Woolworths at our wedding,’ another wrote.
