A woman is facing ‘life-changing’ injuries after she was ran over and forced into the front of a car, it has been claimed.

Eyewitnesses said they saw a couple arguing in near a BP garage in Sutton, south west London at around 9pm last night.

The driver reportedly set off and ran her over before putting the woman in the car and speeding off at around 70mph.

A worker at Motorsport London, a nearby garage, said: ‘There was a couple arguing. She got on the bonnet of his car and refused to move.

‘So then he just drove and ran her over with his car. Then he picked her up, put her in the car and drove off.’

It is not clear what kind of condition the victim was in when they were thrown into the car.

Another eyewitness Dave Wightwick told the Sutton and Croydon Guardian: ‘There was a girl standing outside, and I don’t know exactly but it seemed like a domestic situation.

‘It started down at the BP garage 150 yards from the pub.’

Mr Wightwick, the owner of the nearby Harvest Home pub, added: ‘It escalated into a row, she started walking up the road and he followed her in his car.

‘Things seemed to get out of hand and he drove the car into her virtually right outside the pub.

‘Witnesses started screaming, telling him to stop. The guy picked her up and threw her as hard as he could into the front seat and sped off at about 70mph.

‘A woman tried to stop him, but he was powerfully built, around six foot one, but he just pushed her out of the way.’

Beddington Lane has been closed after the incident and buses have been diverted as police investigate.

A Scotland Yard spokesman said: ‘Police were called at 21:09hrs on Monday, 17 February to reports of a concern for safety of a woman on Beddington Lane, Sutton.

‘It was reported that a man and a woman were seen having an altercation before the woman was forced into the car.

‘Officers were later notified by the London Ambulance Service that a woman, believed to be the same individual, had been taken to hospital from a nearby address.

‘She currently remains in hospital in a potentially life changing condition.. It is believed the individuals were known to each other.

‘Enquiries continue; no arrests have been made.’
