Woman trips over a thug as he tries to flee from police

A quick-thinking woman has snared a thug by put her right foot out and tripping up the suspect during a police chase on Christmas Eve.  

Aaron Cadman, 23, was running from police in Hertford town centre when the mystery woman walks into the road and sticks her foot out which sends the suspect tumbling to the ground leading to his arrest.

Police have now released CCTV footage of the event in the hope to identify and thank the heroic woman.  

Police were alerted to a group of men who had allegedly threatened a member of door staff at a venue in the Hertfordshire town.

Shortly after, the officers stopped a vehicle and one of the men inside ran away.

A woman police constable attempted to detain the suspect, who is alleged to have pushed her as he tried to get away.

East Hertfordshire Chief Inspector Gerry McDonald said: ‘I would like to praise the woman’s efforts in apprehending the suspect – her initiative allowed my officers to capture the suspect and quickly arrest him.

‘By the time the officers had detained him and transferred him to a police vehicle, the member of the public had left the scene so they did not get chance to say thank you.

‘If this was you, or you know the identity of this person, please call 101 and ask to speak to me as I would like to personally thank her for what she has done.’  

Cadman from Cheshunt,Herfordshire has been charged with possession of a controlled drug, assault on a police constable and being drunk and disorderly in a public place.

He has been released on bail and is due to appear at Stevenage Magistrates’ Court on January 24, 2018.
