Woman who climbed into a lion’s den at the Bronx Zoo arraigned

The woman who was caught on video climbing into a lion’s enclosure at the Bronx Zoo was arraigned on a trespass charge overnight and turned a courthouse hallway into her personal catwalk.

Myah Autry, 32, showed up at Bronx Criminal Court after midnight sporting a quirky ensemble made up of a navy-blue NYPD-themed T-shirt, white cutoff jean shorts, white fishnet stockings, a white jacket and a blue knitted beanie hat.

Despite temperatures dipping into the 30s overnight, she opted to wear a pair of metallic sandals.

Autry emerged from the courtroom flashing a smile, then proceeded to strike a series of dramatic catwalk-style poses showing off her every aspect of her disjointed outfit.

According to local reports, Autry’s court appearance was as odd as her fashion choices.

During her arraignment, the woman referred to herself as a ‘black Israelite,’ exclaimed ‘shalom’ and invoked both Allah and Jehovah.

Autry turned herself in at the 52nd precinct in Brooklyn on Wednesday night in connection to the bizarre incident that took place on September 28.

A source told New York Daily News she had been promising to turn herself in for ‘some time,’ and added ‘she’s basically confessing.’

‘She did it because of rage over her boyfriend. He was driving her crazy,’ the source said when explaining her motive for the dangerous stunt.

Autry, was reportedly wearing an NYPD T-shirt when she taken to the precinct at around 12.45 am on Thursday and will appear in court later today.

Police managed to track her down after she posted pictures and videos of herself inside the lion’s den at the zoo. She had also entered a fenced giraffe enclosure.

She spoke to reporters after the incident outside a court in Kearny, New Jersey, last week where she had been summoned to appear on an unrelated shoplifting charge.

Autry said her reasoning for hopping the safety barriers at the zoo was ‘a lot more spiritual’ as opposed to foolish, adding she never feared for her life when she was inside the enclosure.

‘I fear nobody. No animal, no human, no one. So no, I wasn’t fearing of the lion because the lion loved me. That’s why he came to me and I let the lion know: Lion, I love you,’ she told NBC4.

Autry, who is believed to be from Harlem, said she believed the creature was never going to attack her, because she and the animal are at one with each other.

‘I am the lion now. Can’t you tell? Have you ever heard of reincarnation? Do your history young man!’ Autry urged one reported, before complimenting his eyes and smile, calling him ‘very handsome’.

‘Do your history, it’s called reincarnation. I am the lion now,’ she clarified once more.

Autry insisted that she would turn herself in, but said ‘I do know the law’, seeming to imply she didn’t think her actions constituted criminal wrongdoing.

‘I don’t have no problem with the law. When we get together law, we will have a good time,’ she said.

She also issued an apology to the lion when speaking outside court earlier this month, saying she never meant to disrespect him.

‘I love you lion, hope they treating you right in the zoo. Know Myah love you. I didn’t mean to mistreat you or nothing,’ she said. ‘I seen how you came to me. We connected. To the kids, respect your parents please. Your teachers. Authority.’

Autry – who refers to herself as Queen Empress Myah Laree Israelite on Instagram – had been at the Bronx zoological park celebrating her birthday last month, when she was filmed taunting the lion.

The Harlem resident shared a series of videos from her time at the zoo, including her smoking what appears to be a joint outside of the park’s entrance.

In the clip, Myah wears a black shirt with an animal printed MTV logo. She dances to Big Pun’s ‘I’m Not a Player’ and takes a pull of the joint, before declaring that she is about to go ‘f**k with mother nature.’

During the ordeal, the lion, remarkably, stood still and watched the woman as she began to dance and taunt him.

Autry was filmed waving and trying to get the lion’s attention.

She repeatedly yells that she loves the animals and even claims to have the same diet as the large mammals.

In the background, people can be heard expressing their disbelief that she is in the enclosure and plead with her to get out.

The only thing separating her and the lion was a concrete moat surrounding the inner exhibit.

An additional video shows the woman expressing her satisfaction with peacocks at the zoo.

While she did not appear to invade the bird’s personal space in the clip, a later video does show Myah inside a giraffe enclosure.

Autry said in that video that she was about to go ‘f**k with mother nature’.

Other images and videos posted on Autry’s account from that day showed her trying to interact with peacocks and giraffes.

After visiting the zoo, she spent some time in Times Square and even posed for a photo with officers from the New York Police Department.
