Woman who ‘helped Salim Mehajer fake car crash’ revealed

The woman accused of helping Salim Mehajer allegedly fake a car crash on his way to face an assault charge has been revealed as a young, churchgoing mother.

Fakaha Ki Malinda Moufferrige, 31, will face court next week with husband Elias, 30, and brother-in-law Michael, 28, charged with conspiring to cheat and defraud.

The woman from Campbelltown, in south-west Sydney, allegedly helped Mehajer avoid facing court by intentionally crashing into his Mercedes AMG on October 16, News.com.au reported.

Her alleged involvement has placed the disgraced former Auburn deputy mayor in a maximum security prison while he awaits trial for perverting the course of justice and conspiracy to cheat and defraud.

Ms Moufferrige – who was granted bail – comes from a large Tongan-Australian family and is one of nine siblings.

The family are dedicated members of faith who wore matching hooded jumpers saying ‘Rest in God’s love’ when the family matriarch died two years ago.

Police facts say Ms Moufferrige and her husband were introduced to Mehajer by his friend, business associate and co-accused Ahmed Jaghbir, who in November was charged with the murder of Hells Angels bikie Kemel ‘Blackie’ Barakat.

The facts allege Ms Moufferrige stopped moments before the crash on Delhi St, along with her brother-in-law Michael and passenger Nora-Anne Bush, 30, who were closely following her.

She’s then accused of staging a crash with Mehajer at the intersection of Nicholas St, about 8.40am.

An insurance claim on Mehajer’s vehicle was made only hours later, News.com.au reported.

Mehajer’s Mercedes AMG was insured by NRMA for $156,780 only nine days before the crash, a court has heard.

Elias and Michael Moufferrige are accused of ringing Jaghbir days after the crash, asking to be paid $10,000.

Jaghbir then allegedly sent his bank details to Mehajer.

A court also heard in January that police intercepted 170 phone calls between Jaghbir, Mehajer and Elias and Michael Moufferridge.

Police allegedly heard Jaghbir tell another person Mehajer asked to ‘buy’ more time in relation to a court case while intercepting his calls for another matter, court heard.

Police also allege Mehajer’s sister Aiisha lodged an insurance claim on his vehicle while he received treatment in hospital after the crash.
