Woman who repeatedly keyed luxury car finally revealed her motivation in court

A serial car-keyer filmed appearing to scratch a luxury Audi has pleaded guilty to five charges of malicious damage.

City of Sydney town planner Jane Flanagan, 53, was fined $1250 after carving five 10cm gashes into an Audi 4WD – damaging the paintwork of the luxury vehicle, Nine News reported.

The mother-of-one, who lived just down the road from the owners of the car, revealed the reason she defaced the vehicle with her house keys on so many occasions.

Flanagan believed the Audi was blocking the footpath, and was therefore parked illegally.

She was filmed appearing to key the car on owner Evan Hansimikali’s dashcam, which he had installed after the initial scratches were found.

Mr Hansimikali installed a dashcam after the fourth car keying incident and caught the last two times on tape.

The two clips show Flanagan casually strolling past the front of Mr Hansimikali’s car before scratching a key along the bonnet, barely breaking stride as she does so.

In the clips, Flanagan does not appear to struggle to get around the vehicle.

The Audi is a brand new family car, and Mr Hansimikali told A Current Affair he parks it on the driveway outside his home as spots are often limited.

The father-of-three said he never leaves it blocking the footpath, and he can’t think of a reason someone would want to damage his car.

‘You walk out in the morning and you’re like “oh, someone’s keyed my car”,’ he said.

‘You don’t expect someone to do that to your property – especially someone you’ve never seen before in your life.

But Mr Hansimikali probably has seen the woman before.

Ms Flanagan passed the man’s home every day on her way to the bus stop, where she would commute to work.

Speaking with Kyle and Jackie O last month, Mr Hansimikali said other residents on his street have complained about their cars being damaged but have no CCTV proof.

One impassioned caller - named Stephen - told the man he 'deserved 'the car keying because his expensive three-month-old Audi was taking up a large portion of the footpath
