Woman ‘who tricked girl into sex by posing as a boy apologised to her victim in string of texts’

A woman accused of tricking a teenage girl into sex by posing as a boy called George apologised after being confronted over her true identity, saying she had ‘never meant for it to get this far’, a court heard today.

Georgia Bilham, 21, told the alleged victim she had made ‘a stupid mistake’ and had ‘wanted to end it’ but ‘just didn’t know how’, jurors were told.

Asking her not to ‘take it further’, she wrote: ‘I just got in too deep and I didn’t know what to do.’ She claimed it was ‘pointless’ and she ‘got nothing out of it’.

Bilham is accused of tricking the short-sighted girl by taking away her glasses, keeping her own clothes on and hiding her long, blonde hair under her hood during their sexual encounters.

The girl allegedly only learnt the truth after she introduced ‘George’ to her mother, who the prosecution say was not fooled by her appearance, and as a result began researching ‘his’ real identity on social media.

The alleged victim, who at the time was in her late teens, told the jury yesterday that while she had never seen ‘George’s’ penis, she felt what she described as ‘a willy-like figure’ against her leg on two occasions.

Describing the second time it allegedly happened, she said: ‘I thought we were about to have sex – this was the night.’

Georgia Bilham’s message to teenage girl she is alleged to have tricked into sex

I never meant for it to get this far.

I’m so sorry for all of it. It was never me and it shouldn’t have happened.

That isn’t me.

I don’t know what I was thinking… I didn’t get anything out of it.

I don’t know what I was thinking to be honest. I hate myself for it and what I’ve done.

I wanted to end it, I just didn’t know how. I knew I shouldn’t have let it get this far, I’m so sorry.

I’ve genuinely got nothing out of it.

It was pointless.

I’m really sorry for everything I’ve done. I don’t want it to go further.

I don’t even dress like a lad, it just took over my life.

It was a stupid, stupid, stupid mistake that shouldn’t have happened.

What I did I did it without thinking and now I don’t know what to do.

I hate myself for it, I do honestly, I can’t stress that enough.

I know it was wrong of me but please don’t take it further.

I just got in too deep and I didn’t know what to do.

I should have apologised sooner and I don’t want to make anything worse or nothing.

It was never meant to happen, I’m more than sorry.

But Bilham denies ever having done anything aimed at ‘mimicking a penis’, Chester Crown Court has heard.

Bilham, from Alpraham, Cheshire, is charged with nine counts of sexual assault and eight counts of assault by penetration, all of which she denies.

Today jurors were read messages sent after the girl confronted Bilham about the alleged deception in August 2021.

In the first message, the accuser – whose identity is protected by law – told Bilham it had ‘knocked me sick’ when she found out that she had been posing as ‘George’, adding that she ought to be ‘sectioned’.

In response, Bilham allegedly wrote: ‘I never meant for it to get this far.

‘I’m so sorry for all of it. It was never me and it shouldn’t have happened.’

Insisting she ‘didn’t get anything out of it’, she added: ‘I don’t know what I was thinking to be honest.

‘I hate myself for it and what I’ve done.

‘I wanted to end it, I just didn’t know how. I knew I shouldn’t have let it get this far, I’m so sorry.’

Bilham added: ‘I don’t even dress like a lad, it just took over my life.

‘It was a stupid, stupid, stupid mistake that shouldn’t have happened.

‘I know it was wrong of me but please don’t take it further.

‘I just got in too deep and I didn’t know what to do.

‘I should have apologised sooner and I don’t want to make anything worse or nothing.

‘It was never meant to happen, I’m more than sorry.’

Bilham allegedly set up a fake Snapchat profile under the name ‘George Parry’ and began messaging the alleged victim online when she was still at school.

In 2021 they progressed to meeting up for sexual activity in ‘George’s’ car, with Bilham taking away the extremely short-sighted girl’s glasses, leaving her ‘essentially blind’, the court heard.

‘George’ told her he was too afraid to take off his top or even lower the hood because he was working for an Albanian criminal gang.

He also said he was self-conscious due to a scar from being stabbed, according to the prosecution.

In May 2021 they were involved in a car crash and the girl overheard ‘George’ admitting to police that his name was really Georgia.

But Bilham managed to convince the girl it was a false identity given to her by the gangsters, the court heard.

Later the alleged victim found a bank card under the name ‘Georgia Bilham’, jurors were told, but rather than suspect the truth she instead accused him of seeing someone called Georgia Bilham.

The pair began sleeping together at her home, with ‘George’ insisting on keeping his hood up at all times.

But while ‘George’ regularly performed sex acts on her, when she tried to lower ‘his’ Calvin Klein boxer shorts ‘he’ began shaking until she stopped, it was alleged.

Today the jury heard from the police officers who spoke to the pair after the car crash in the early hours of May 11, 2021.

One, PC David Fallows, recalled how Bilham had a hood over her head and what looked like a scarf covering the bottom part of her face.

He said the alleged victim told him she knew the driver as ‘George’ and they had been messaging online.

The officer confirmed that he had informed her that the person she knew as ‘George’ was actually female.

After Bilham’s father came to pick her up, the officers drove the girl home.

Asked if she said anything during the journey, PC Fallows said: ‘She felt sick.

‘She believed that it was a male she had been speaking to and they weren’t going to have any further contact.’

The officer described her as being ‘distressed’, ‘crying’ and ‘hunched over in a foetal position’.

Bilham’s barrister, Martine Snowdon, said her client denied she was wearing a scarf over her face.

‘As far as you’re concerned, you made sure [the girl] knew that George was a female?’ Ms Snowdon asked.

‘Yes,’ PC Fallows replied.

Jurors were told on Monday by prosecutor Anna Pope that although the alleged victim agreed to sexual activity with ‘George’, she was ‘clear that she did not consent to have sexual activity with a woman’.

Bilham is said to have deleted the Snapchat account under George’s name after the teenager said she had learnt her real identity in August 2021.

The trial continues.
