Mystery surrounds grim discovery of elderly woman’s body in Sydney river

  • A woman’s body has been discovered in Sydney’s Parramatta River on Sunday 
  • Police attended the scene at 2.15pm on Sunday and located the woman’s body
  • The woman is yet to be formally identified, but police believe she is in her 70’s 

An elderly woman’s body has been discovered in Sydney’s Parramatta River on Sunday.

Officers were called to the scene near the Queens Wharf Reserve in the city’s northwest at about 2.15pm.

The women is yet to be formally identified, but police believe she is above 70 years of age.

Officers attached to the Marine Area Command recovered the woman’s body before reporting the incident to police. 

They attended the scene, recovered the body and have since established a crime scene.

Officers from the Cumberland Area Command are investigating the cause of the woman’s death and urge anyone with information to come forward.
