Women split, men rejoice over new Bachelor Nick Cummins

On Wednesday, Channel Ten confirmed the seemingly too-crazy-to-be-true news that Nick ‘Honey Badger’ Cummins will be the new Bachelor star.

For the first time in the series’ history, the announcement was more popular with men than women, as the move was labelled ‘genius’ for drawing in male viewers.

Also for the first time, it was overjoyed boyfriends tagging their girlfriend on articles confirming his casting, as several confused women asked: ‘should I know who he is?’

When Ten officially confirmed the speculation on Wednesday social media comments flooded in: women were split, men were overjoyed.

One lambasted the move: ‘Never heard of him, but gosh, give him a makeover first!’ she wrote.

‘I thought the idea of a Bachelor was that they were a catch, someone with a certain desirability. All I see is a dude who needs a barber.’

The Wallabies star certainly isn’t one to get lost in a crowd, priding himself on his curly, unkempt locks and pencil-thin moustache.

‘These shows are getting less watchable by the minute. Is he seriously the best Bachelor they could find? Should I know who he is?’ another asked.

Elsewhere, one asked in shock: ‘What curly fry head have they got now?’ while someone else asked: ‘Is the mo (moustache) negotiable.’

Honey who? Also for the first time, it was overjoyed boyfriends tagging their girlfriend on articles confirming his casting, as several confused women asked: 'should I know who he is?'

But for the first time in The Bachelor Australia history, it was men who appeared to rejoice the loudest.

Even a Channel Nine producer praised the casting: ‘Having The Honey Badger as the next Bachelor is genius because female viewers are going to watch regardless, and I think it may pull in a few male viewers who want to see what lines he comes out with.’

And the producer was right, as several couples agreed to watch the shown together for the first time.
