Australian home cooks can create a classic curried sausage pot pies to feed a family using just four ingredients.

Woolworths has shared the no-fuss ‘cheat’s’ recipe to help shoppers bring a tasty meal to the dinner table in just 20 minutes.

To make the hearty dish, you’ll need $5.50 beef sausages, $3 MasterFoods curried sausages simmer sauce, $2.60 frozen mixed vegetables and $4.50 potato mash.

Perfect to cook on busy weeknights, the dinner comes to just $15.60 to feed a family of four, or $3.90 per serve.

In a frying pan over medium-high heat, brown the sausages on all sides with a tablespoon of oil for five minutes.

Once cooked, transfer the sausages to a chopping board and thinly slice them diagonally into bite-sized pieces.

Add the recipe base curried sausages sauce into the same pan, along with the mixed vegetables, then reduce heat to medium. Simmer for five minutes or until sauce is slightly thickened.

Meanwhile, heat Woolworths’ own brand of potato mash, according to packet instructions. 

Add sausage to sauce, stirring to combine. Then spoon the sausage mixture into four ramekins, then top with a spoonful of mash.

Bake in preheated oven grill for five minutes or until golden.

Cheat’s Curried Sausage Pot Pies

INGREDIENTS

600g pkt Aussie beef sausages

500g jar MasterFoods curried sausages simmer sauce

1 1/2 cups McCain frozen mixed vegetables

475g pkt Woolworths classic potato mash

METHOD 

1. Heat 1 tbs oil in a large frying pan over medium-high heat. Cook sausages, turning, for 5 minutes or until browned. Transfer to a chopping board and thinly slice sausages diagonally.

2. Add sauce and vegetables to pan. Reduce heat to medium, then simmer for 5 minutes or until sauce slightly thickens.

3. Meanwhile, heat potato mash according to packet instructions. Add sausage to sauce, stirring to combine.

4. Preheat oven grill on medium-high. Spoon sausage mixture among 4 x 1½-cup capacity ramekins, then top with a spoonful of mash. Drizzle with remaining oil and season. Grill for 5 minutes or until golden. Serve.
