The announcement comes just one day after Coles launched their new limited-edition vegemite and cheese hot cross bun that was released on Boxing Day more than four months before the Easter long weekend.
Giving the traditional Easter treat a savoury twist, Coles teamed up with Bega Cheese to create a bun infused with vegemite and parmesan and finished with a tasty cheesy topping.
The vegemite and cheese buns are $3.50 for a pack of four and will be added to Coles’ range of hot cross bun varieties including apple and cinnamon, sticky date and butterscotch, salted caramel.

Coles General Manager of Bakery, Deli and Seafood Andy Mossop said he is sure customers will love the new vegemite hot crossed buns just as much as the rest of the range.
‘It’s important to us at Coles to have some fun with flavours, and we always want to give customers something they’ve never had before, but ultimately it has to taste great,’ he said.
‘Our teams have put a lot of time and work into fine-tuning the recipe to ensure we have the perfect flavour profile so the signature vegemite savouriness shines through in a way we know our customers are going to love.’
Hot cross buns will be available from Aldi on January 12 and at Baker’s Delight sometime next month.
