Would YOU go to a restaurant in sweaty gym gear like Jessica Mulroney?

Meghan’s best friend Jessica Mulroney has sparked an online debate after heading to straight from the gym to a restaurant without changing clothes.

The unofficial stylist to the Duchess of Sussex was pictured enjoying a drink alongside TV producer Brandon Lankar directly after their joint workout.

Brandon shared a selfie with his pal on Instagram, that showed the pair smiling for the camera in workout vests and leggings.

Captioning the photo Brandon wrote: ‘So @JessicaMulroney and I are having a debate.

‘Be honest, is it ever acceptable to wear your workout clothes to a restaurant after the gym?’

It was not long before Brandon’s 7,400 strong following weighed in with their own opinion on the subject.

In many cases people agreed that what you wore depended on the type of restaurant.

One wrote: ‘Not inside a cafe or restaurant, I guess the patio would be okay. Personally I have done it once or twice if strapped for time.’

Agreeing another said: ‘Depends on the kind of restaurant. Something casual like a cafe or brunch yes but plz towel off& change into a fresh tee!’ 

Others said that anywhere with serving staff should be avoided following a sweaty workout.

‘Casual maybe – sit down of any kind where someone serves you – NO – plus even if casual of any sign of BO – uuummmm NO’ wrote one.

However, some were adamant that it is never acceptable, and you should always change your clothes.

‘No, no matter how hot you may be. Yuck’ wrote a particularly passionate follower.

Experts have previously warned that failing to wash properly immediately or changing clothes immediately after exercise could lead to acne, fungal and bacterial infections or inflamed follicles. 

By showering within 20 minutes after exercise, Dr Rigel, clinical professor of dermatology at New York University Medical Centre, said that most of these can be avoided.

‘Make sure you shower within 20 minutes of working out with an antibacterial soap…Don’t sit in sweaty clothes all day, that’s not the move,’ he told Daily Mail Online.

Jessica’s gym ensemble is rarely one seen in public with high profile events, most notably the royal wedding, seeing her in a range of glamorous ensembles.

The now Duchess of Sussex’s close friend, unofficial wedding planner, and now long-distance stylist is one of the most well-connected women in Canada.

She is married to Ben Mulroney, the oldest son of the former Canadian Prime Minister Brian Mulroney, and the couple live in Toronto with their three children; twins Brian and John, and their little girl, Ivy.

Listing herself as an expert in brand strategy and PR on her very active Instagram feed, Jessica is also a wedding planner and the founder of the Shoebox Project, a charity initiative that distributes shoeboxes full of gifts to women in need.

The McGill University graduate was recently named among the 50 most influential people in Canada by the luxury lifestyle magazine Bay Street Bull, and counts multiple television personalities and female entrepreneurs among her close friends.

She is understood to have taken Meghan under her wing when the then actress was living in Toronto while starring in suits.

The pair are so close Ivy was a flower girl at the royal wedding in May, while Brian and John were page boys given the special task of holding the bride’s train as she walked down the aisle in St George’s Chapel, at Windsor Castle.
