Would you try the Bunny Burger? Cafe dreams up a VERY unusual Easter special but their rogue menu item has divided customers

  • A cafe has created a super stacked burger with a hot cross bun – as the bun
  • The creation has divided customers with its sweet and salty combination
  • The burger features a huge amount of bacon, several patties and cheese

As Easter weekend approaches the much loved hot cross bun has been turned in to a burger, dividing customers and social media users.

The menu item can be found at The Yard On Glebe, a cafe in Ipswich, south-west of Brisbane, and is named the ‘Bunny Burger’.

The creation contains two rashers of bacon, two beef patties, hickory sauce, onion jam and cheese melting it all together.

The cafe owner Letesha Amber Dean said they cooked up the idea and decided to give it a go after successfully trailing it in-store.

‘It was originally only going to go for the weekend but we still have it going at the moment because people are enjoying it so much,’ she said.

‘The moment you are eating it is a bit odd as it’s a hot cross bun but when it combines with the flavours of the meat and the sauces and it’s really good.’

Not everyone was impressed with burger enthusiasts in an online Facebook group expressing their dislike by posting an image of a person vomiting.

‘Please tell me that doesn’t have sultanas in it haha,’ one person said.

But most were far more open minded to the idea of the very non-traditional burger.

‘Sweet and salty is amazing,’ said one person.

‘Get on to Uber Eats,’ said another.

The ‘Bunny Burger’ is still available in stores for those looking to try it for themselves.
