New York Yankees pitcher Domingo German has been placed on administrative leave under Major League Baseball’s domestic violence policy, but no specific allegations have been made against the 27-year-old native of the Dominican Republic.

‘We fully support all measures being undertaken by the Commissioner’s Office pursuant to the Policy on Domestic Violence,’ the Yankees said in a statement. ‘We support this policy which reinforces that domestic violence has no place in our society and cannot be tolerated.

‘We have followed the lead of Major League Baseball and will continue to provide our complete cooperation throughout the investigative process.’

Neither the Yankees nor MLB will comment on the matter until the investigation has been completed.

Under MLB’s joint domestic violence policy with the union, a player can be placed on administrative leave for seven days, unless an extension is made.

‘The office of the Commissioner of Baseball announced today that New York Yankees pitcher Domingo German has been placed on Administrative Leave under the Joint MLB-MLBPA Domestic Violence Policy,’ read a league statement. ‘Per the policy, the initial period of Administrative Leave may last up to seven days, barring an extension.

‘Major League Baseball’s Department of Investigations has commenced an investigation into the matter that led to his placement on Administrative Leave. MLB will have no further comment until the investigation is complete.’

On August 27, German posted a picture of himself, his wife, and infant son child on Instagram.

‘Family is not an important thing, it’s everything,’ the caption read. ‘Blessed with the love and support from those who matter most.’

German and the Yankees are currently gearing up for postseason run. 

New York has the American League’s second-best record and German has put in a career year, going 18-4 with a 4.03 earned-run average. He was just 2-5 with a 5.57 ERA last season.

‘I view Domingo playing a really big role for us in the postseason, hopefully,’ Yankees manager Aaron Boone told reporters on September 12. ‘There’s a number of different roles he could fill. I can very easily see him starting games. I can see him coming in for an inning in a big spot. I can see him giving us length out of the pen.’
