The weather wasn’t much better yesterday as glamorous racegoers arrived at York Races on Wednesday.
Bravely flaunting their bare legs in an array of skimpy dresses, women could be seen giggling under umbrellas as they arrived at at the equestrian event in their finery.
Luckily the rain eased off in time for a royal arrival as fittingly, the Duke of York, Prince Andrew arrived at the raced this afternoon.
The Queen’s son was suited and booted in anticipation of the day ahead, arriving in a charcoal grey two piece suit and a sky blue tie.
The royal, 57, appeared to be in good spirits as he chatted to fellow racing enthusiasts as he arrived at the stadium today.

One lady didn’t let her broken leg spoil the fun and arrived at the event on crutches

Others wore elegant fitted shift dresses, with one opting for a safe plain white design with a fitted nude jacket, while another chose a busy floral print, accessorising with a string of pearls
Elsewhere, racegoers were spotted arriving with less ease – teetering on the slippery ground in towering open-toed high-heeled sandals after optimistically wearing summer dresses on the first day of the races at the historic York Racecourse.
Meanwhile, many of the men could be seen dashing across the pavement, hiding under their jackets, as they arrived at the Yorkshire Ebor Festival, which runs from Wednesday until Saturday.
Others had come prepared in practical but not-very-glamorous clear plastic ponchos.
The women meanwhile retained a sense of glamour for the glittering occasion and came dressed in their finery, with many opting for geometric prints.

Hitting the bar early: Thirsty men and woman made a beeline for some drinks as soon as they touched down at the course

One woman took a risk and wore a flirty navy blue thigh-skimming minidress and towering nude open-toed sandals.
Another wore a blue-and-white striped midi dress that had to be hitched up to avoid falling on the dampened ground.
Elsewhere, one woman was spotted wearing a bold orange dress coat, which she teamed with black accessories including plain heels and a small fascinator.
She was accompanied by a dashing gent in a sand-coloured suit, which he wore with a straw hat.
