Young boy hit by a car and killed Port Augusta

An eight-year-old boy has tragically died after being hit by a car on a busy street in South Australia.

The boy was crossing Victoria Parade in Port Augusta when he was knocked down by a car, The Advertiser reports.

Police and emergency services arrived to the scene at 7pm and the boy was rushed to hospital.

Crash investigators are currently examining the scene. As a result, road closures are in place in and around Victoria Parade.

He later died in hospital from his critical injuries.
