A young couple have appeared in court over the grisly murder of a young Tasmanian man whose torso was found in bushland at the weekend.

Jack Harrison Vincent Sadler, 26, didn’t enter a plea in Launceston Magistrates Court on Wednesday to a charge of murder over the death of Jake Daniel Anderson-Brettner.

His co-accused, Gemma Elizabeth Clark, 25, also denied involvement in the alleged murder in a separate court appearance.

Mr Anderson-Brettner, 24, was last seen alive on August 15 in Launceston.

A torso that police believe belongs to him was found several days later near Targa in the state’s northeast.

The search continues for the rest of his body, with police trawling through wheelie bins for the remains.

Sadler is expected to re-appear in Launceston Magistrates Court on September 11.

Clark pleaded not guilty to being an accessory after the fact of murder and will face Launceston Supreme Court on October 15.

Police are yet to officially confirm that the remains found are Mr Anderson-Brettner’s.

His cause of death has not been confirmed but police are working under the belief he was shot. A gun and electric saw have been recovered, according to theABC.
