A flight attendant has shared a heartwarming story of how a young plane passenger helped make an elderly woman’s dreams come true by giving her his first-class seat.

Leah Amy, who works for Virgin Atlantic, took to Facebook last Tuesday to recount the story and to upload a series of happy snaps of the 88-year-old’s unforgettable journey from New York to London.

‘Of the hundreds of flights I’ve operated, I’ve had the pleasure of looking after footballers, supermodels and some Hollywood movie stars, but let me tell you about my two favorite passengers EVER!’ Amy cooed, before introducing readers to the travelers, Jack and Violet.

According the New Zealand Herald, Jack and Violet struck up an unlikely friendship while waiting for their plane in the airport terminal.

Violet, a retired nurse from New York, was travelling to London to visit her daughter, while Jack was returning home to the British capital after a family trip to the Big Apple.

As flight attendant Amy explained in her Facebook post: ‘Jack and his family purchased seats In our upper class cabin for a flight home, but when he got on board, Jack went and found Violet in economy and swapped seats with her.’

She continued: ‘He then sat on the row of seats directly next to the economy toilets and never made a peep or asked for anything the rest of the flight. No fuss, no attention, literally did it out of the kindness of his own heart, no one asked him to.

Amy went on to explain that Violet occasionally travels to the United Kingdom to visit her daughter who works there, but that ‘she hasn’t been able to for a while because of a knee replacement.’

‘Her dream has always been to sit at the front, and Jack made that come true,’ the flight attendant then stated.

She shared a series of adorable snaps that showed Violet luxuriating in the comforts of first class on the seven hour flight.

‘You should  have seen her face, when I tucked her in her bed after supper.  She said her daughter won’t believe her, and wanted a ‘selfie’ to prove it, but didn’t have a phone or an email address. These photos are getting sent in the post tomorrow, can you even cope?’

Amy’s post immediately went viral, with many Facebook users blown away by Jack’s selfless act of kindness.

‘What a beautiful heart warming story, I bet he got so much joy out of his kindness, this is just amazing, I love this, what a guy,’ one  gushed.

Another stated: ‘Jack, you are beautiful inside and out. God bless you and give you ten fold in blessings. Violet’s smile is everything. Love love love this!’
