Young pregnant woman, 25, and her partner, 29, vanish in the Outback after their car breaks down and they try to hitchhike to a nearby town

  • A couple is missing after their vehicle broke down in the Australian Outback
  • Pair were last spotted near Kulgera, south of Alice Springs, Northern Territory 
  • Bianca Farnsworth, 25, and Cody Rowland, 29, ‘believed to be in good health’
  • However, Bianca is several months pregnant with her first child, police said 

A young pregnant woman and her partner have vanished in the Australian outback after their car broke down.

Melbourne residents Bianca Farnsworth, 25, and Cody Rowland, 29, have not been seen since about 2:40pm on Friday.

Their vehicle had broken down near Kulgera, 275 kilometres south of Alice Springs, in the Northern Territory.

‘It is understood that the pair were going to try and hitchhike to Alice Springs, around 200km away,’ Northern Territory police said in a statement. 

‘Both are believed to be in good health however Bianca is several months pregnant with her first child. It is unclear what supplies or finances they have available.’

The couple were travelling north on the Stuart Highway when their Mitsubishi Urvan vehicle broke down. 

Police said the couple were last spotted before Erldunda Roadhouse at the intersection of Lassiter Hwy and Stuart Hwy near Kulgera. 

The vehicle has the Northern Territory registration CC91RT. 

Police are urging anyone who may have seen the pair or who have information on their whereabouts to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or the Police Assistance Line on 131 444.
