Young Tory is mocked for flashing ‘I love Boris Johnson’ leg tattoo at party conference – two years after she quit party saying she had been ‘victimised and bullied

A young Tory has been mocked for flashing her ‘I love Boris Johnson’ leg tattoo at party conference – but she took the insults in her stride by hitting back against her critics.

Jade Smith, from Redcar, was featured on a Twitter and Instagram post from Labour-supporting journalist Owen Jones yesterday, in which he showed the inking of the former Foreign Secretary with the caption, ‘I think I’m done with conference’.

The 20-year-old hit back: ‘Guys I’ve made it in life. Owen Jones is leaving conference because of my tattoo.’

Ms Smith hit the headlines two years ago when she quit the Tories after claiming she had been ‘victimised and bullied’ by the chairman of the South Tees Conservative Association. She has now rejoined the party.

Her tattoo choice let to a storm of criticism on Instagram, with Becca Sheridan posting: ‘Anyone got any bleach? I need to burn my eyes out.’

David R S said: ‘This person needs laser removal on the NHS. Nothing could be more urgent.’

Another user Richard Bright said: ‘Assumed the ankle belonged to Boris.’

Ms Jones’ noted that she had been blocked by Jones despite him tweeting about her tattoo.

The true blue Tory also featured in the BBC real-life soap opera The Mighty Redcar which focuses on the relationships between the generations in the North Yorkshire town. 

Her bullying complaint to the Conservative disciplinary committee was made in May 2016.

It came a year after the party was criticised for its response to the death of Elliott Johnson, 21, who took his own life after complaining of bullying.
