YouTube pranksters break into London’s National Theatre

  • Ally Law, a 20-year-old YouTube personality snuck in the building with his friend
  • They swung on the equipment and slept overnight in the building before leaving
  • Concerns raised over theatre security after footage was posted on December 18

This is the moment a couple of YouTube pranksters sneaked inside the National Theatre and clambered onto the stage rigging.

Ally Law, a 20-year-old YouTube personality with nearly 400,000 subscribers, entered the theatre with a friend through an unlocked door after a Saturday night performance finished.

The online star filmed his friend nearly plunge to his death after he grabbed onto a loose pole – and the pair slept in the building overnight too.

Concerns over the security of the National Theatre have been raised after the footage, which was posted on December 18, gained attention.

The video shows both pranksters climbing onto the building’s roof and roaming around the theatre.

They hang from the stage rigging and swing about on the equipment – before one of them almost falls from dozens of feet in the air after grabbing hold of a dodgy pole.

The video, which was uploaded to Ally’s YouTube account, was titled MY FRIEND NEARLY DIED! OVERNIGHT CHALLENGE IN NATIONAL THEATRE.

At one point in the video a security guard discovers the daredevils and asks what they’re doing.

Law tells him they are doing some ‘late night rehearsing’ and the pair are let off the hook.

In a statement, Liz Fosbury, the Chief Operating Officer at the National Theatre said: ‘The safety and security of everyone at the National Theatre is of the utmost importance.

‘We were shocked and concerned that two intruders recently put themselves at great risk by gaining unauthorised access to a restricted area of the building.

‘We would like to reassure audiences that we have taken immediate action to further strengthen our security, we liaise with the police on an ongoing basis and we are working closely with the Met following this incident.’
