If you wear glasses, they can really pull your whole look together if you pick the right accessory.

Your face shape plays a big part in picking a pair of glasses that will set off your features and compliment your skin tone, but how do you know which pair suits you best?

British high street retailer Specsavers’ resident eyewear expert Bianca Sarre said: ‘Not every style will work for you, so make sure you choose glasses that suit the shape of your face.

‘The theory is that you should choose frames that are the opposite to your face shape.’

Whether you are a Round like Emma Roberts, Heart like Julia Roberts or lucky enough to be an Oval like Reese Witherspoon, here Bianca shares her expert guide to getting life through a lens just right.

If you have a round face like actress Emma Stone, you’re more likely to suit angular or geometric style glasses frames

ROUND FACE LIKE EMMA STONE

Round faces are fairly short with a wide forehead and a round chin.

If like Oscar-winner Emma Stone, you have a round face, look for angular or geometric styles.

Steer clear of oval or round frames though, as those will just make your face look rounder.

OVAL FACE LIKE JULIA ROBERTS

Lucky you if you have an oval face like Julia Roberts - this means you can get away with pretty much any style of glasses

An oval face is evenly proportioned and softly rounded.

Lucky ovals like Julia Roberts suit almost every frame shape – but rectangular and geometric shapes will suit you better than round frames.

LONG FACE LIKE LIV TYLER

If like Liv Tyler you have a long face, aim for wide frames with a strong brow line at the top

A rectangular face has high cheekbones and a deep forehead.

So long-faced glamazons like Lord of the Rings star Liv Tyler should choose wide frames with a strong brow line at the top.

An all-over colour will work well, but avoid small or deep frames.

TRIANGULAR FACE LIKE JENNIFER LOPEZ

J-Lo has a relatively pointy, triangular jaw; if yours is similar, go for a bold, strong frame shape

A triangular face like J-Lo’s is narrow at the forehead and eyeline but widens at the jaw.

It needs bold, strong shapes to add balance to the face. Try to avoid small, narrow frames.

HEART-SHAPED FACE LIKE REESE WITHERSPOON

Heart-shaped faces like actress Reese Witherspoon's suit slender, rounded or square styles of frames

Reese Witherspoon has the classic example of a heart-shaped face – one with a broad forehead which tapers to a small, neat mouth and chin.

Heart-shaped faces suit slender, rounded or square styles – but you might want to avoid frames that are wider at the top.

SQUARE FACE LIKE DEMI MOORE

If, like Demi Moore, you have a relatively square face shape, oval or round frames are likely to suit you best

If, like Demi Moore, you have a relatively square face shape, oval or round frames are likely to suit you best

American actress Demi Moore has a square face, defined by a broad, deep forehead, a wide jaw and a square chin.

Oval or round frames will balance out this face shape, while angular frames will emphasise angular features.

It’s not all about your face shape! Don’t forget your skin, eyes and nose

SKIN

If you have a darker skin tone, think about investing in tortoiseshell frames, or even brightly coloured ones.

Silver and black frames also work well with darker skin.

Soft browns look fabulous with paler skin tones, as do burgundy or pink frames.

EYES

Blues, greens and purples can really highlight blue eyes.

A thin or clear bridge can add width between close-set eyes, while a coloured bridge will make wide-set eyes appear closer together.

NOSE

Don’t forget that the shape and size of your nose will affect the look and feel of your specs.

Long noses suit a lower bridge and a thick plastic frame, while shorter noses can be balanced with a high bridge or a frame with a thicker brow line.
