  • Zach Bryan, 27, called himself a ‘dumbass’ after he was arrested on Thursday night after having a clash with Oklahoma Highway cops
  • The musician was charged with obstruction of an investigation
  • The singer went to the Craig County Jail but bonded out less than two hours after being booked

Country music star Zach Bryan called himself a ‘dumbass’ who ‘acted like an idiot’ after he was arrested in a clash with highway cops in Oklahoma.

The 27-year-old artist was charged with obstruction of an investigation after his arrest in Vinita, Oklahoma on Thursday.

Bryan said in a video he posted that an officer came up to his window and asked for his driver’s license, registration and home address. He said he refused to give out his address because he is a recognized musician.

However, the officer then threatened to arrest Bryan – but he wouldn’t budge. He was held in custody in the Craig County Jail in connection with the obstruction of an investigation. He bonded nearly and hour and a half after being booked.

He tweeted on Thursday about the incident with Oklahoma Highway Patrol, and said  ’emotions got the best of me and I was out of line with the things I said.’

‘I want to start with the legalities of it – I went to jail, they didn’t play favourites. I was an idiot today. My decisions did not reflect who I am as a person and I just want to make that clear. I should have been smarter about it.

He added that he got ‘too lippy’ with the officer and he ‘felt like a child’.

Though it is unclear what an obstruction of investigation violation refers to in this case,  Oklahoma law states a misdemeanor is when someone ‘willfully delays or obstructs any public officer in the discharge or attempt to discharge any duty of his or her office,’  CNN reported.

The musician added: ‘I support law enforcement as much as anyone can, I was just frustrated in the moment, it was unlike me and I apologize. They brought me to jail, and there is a mug shot of me floating around.’

‘It was ridiculous, it was immature and I pray everyone knows I don’t think I’m above the law. I was being disrespectful and I shouldn’t have been. It was my mistake,’ he said.

Fans have clamored for country singer Zach Bryan following the release of his mugshot after his Thursday arrest.

Since then, a number of accounts have emerged claiming to offer the mugshot printed on T-shirts as unofficial merchandise. Users have said the singer’s arrest has made him ‘MORE attractive’.

One went so far as to write: ‘I know I’m toxic because Zach Bryan’s mugshot makes me love him even more’.
