The badly decomposed bodies of elderly twin sisters were found Friday inside their Brooklyn home.
The New York City Fire Department made the grim discovery after responding to a call about flooding that started inside a home in Crown Heights and spilled into a neighboring building.
Police sources told the New York Post that the sisters, 69, were found on the second floor of the Union Street home. One woman was discovered in the bedroom and the other was in the hallway.

The bodies were badly decomposed and were found on the second floor of the home. One woman was in the bedroom and the other was in the hallway
Investigators have not yet released the names of the women, but churchgoers at Good Tidings Gospel Chapel in Brooklyn identified them to NY1 as Marie Lynne Alleyne and Marie Anne Alleyne.
A medical examiner’s office will determine their causes of death.
Gloria Briggs, 75, who runs a garden connected to the building the sisters lived in, told Pix11 that one of the sisters was sick and they never had any visitors.
Neither was married or had any children.
Detectives believe Marie Lynne and Marie Anne had not been seen since Thanksgiving.
‘One of them got very sick this summer and the other one would do all of the shopping for her,’ Briggs said.
‘I would ask: ‘How is your sister doing?’ And she would say: ‘She’s coming along.’ I think they worked for the banks. The one that was sick retired and I think the other one retired a few years ago. The one that was well and strong took care of the other one. She would do the shopping.’

Briggs also said the sisters kept to themselves and ‘dressed alike every day’.
‘They always wore the same clothes. They would wear black skirts and dark blue shirts and trench coats and a beret,’ she said.
Investigators said there were no visible signs of trauma to the bodies, and no signs of forced entry to the home. The heat was not on inside the home, and the mail had piled up outside.
