Griezmann looked set on a move away from the Wanda Metropolitano last summer, with Manchester United seemingly ready to snap up the 26-year-old.

However, a transfer ban meant Atletico were unable to buy a replacement and they doubled his release clause from £85million to £170m to warn off any suitors.

Barcelona had not given up on signing their man though and they are thought to have already reached an agreement for next summer.

Neither La Liga club can deny the advanced nature of the talks with Mundo Deportivo suggesting a potential five-year deal is on the horizon.
