Brazen burglars caught on CCTV stealing a safe containing jewellery and struggling to load it into a getaway car

  • About 10 minutes later, the men were spotted on CCTV carrying a safe 
  • The men, who covered their faces and wore gloves, escaped in a VW Golf  

Police are hunting a three burglars who were caught on CCTV breaking into a home before escaping with a safe containing sentimental jewellery.

Security cameras captured the brazen broad daylight theft which took place in Codsall, Staffordshire, at around 3.40pm last Thursday.

The burglars can be seen peering through windows and checking door handles before smashing a window in order to gain entry.

After searching the house the trio then dragged a heavy safe to a getaway car parked on the driveway before loading it into the boot, damaging the paintwork in the process.

Staffordshire Police have now released the footage in a bid to track down the three men who struck at the property on Keepers Lane.

A force spokesperson said: ‘Detectives are particularly interested in speaking to anyone who may have seen the offenders’ vehicle which was damaged from the safe.’

The WL62 CPO number plate shown in the footage is registered to a blue Volkswagen Golf.
